PROJECT
CarryMeHome - launched in 2023 under the leadership of W.E.I.Z. Forschungs- und Entwicklungs gGmbH - aims to develop an intelligent mobility and supply concept for short journeys. In the model regions of Weiz and Feldkirchen, existing mobility services are being further developed and supplemented by an innovative vehicle: the CarryMeHome transport trolley. This electrically assisted trolley makes it easier to transport shopping and goods - on foot, by bike or on public transport - and thus promotes sustainable, flexible mobility that is suitable for everyday use.
CarryMeHome's mobility concept focuses on flexibility, digital integration and regional value creation. The aim is to bundle various mobility services - including public transport, car and bike sharing and local delivery services - into a user-friendly, digital platform. Proven systems such as “Scotty” or “Wayfinder” serve as the technical foundation, which are being expanded to include new functions and regional services. The focus here is on ease of use for all users, regardless of age or previous technical experience.
The CarryMeHome concept is based on three central pillars: demand-oriented, socially integrated and supported by targeted push initiatives. Various vehicles - from electric cargo bikes to vans - are available depending on demand. Thanks to the socially integrated airDrive model, citizens can become active as delivery drivers and are rewarded with a regional currency. In addition, push initiatives such as the expansion of cycle paths, traffic calming and the conversion of supermarket parking lots into mobility hubs provide the necessary infrastructure.
The CarryMeHome transport trolley is multifunctional: as a shopping cart, bicycle trailer and transport aid on public transport. With electric assistance, it masters inclines and longer distances effortlessly. Thanks to the virtual drawbar, it automatically follows the user at speeds of up to 20 km/h. It is produced sustainably from regional materials. The easy maintenance and local charging infrastructure make it particularly suitable for everyday use - a great benefit, especially for older people or those without a car.
Future & impact
Mobility for all- and with all
The CarryMeHome project is committed to a sustainable future by developing innovative mobility solutions. By focusing on environmentally friendly means of transportation, CarryMeHome aims to contribute to reducing CO2 emissions while improving the quality of life in cities. The vision is a connected, green mobility that offers people flexibility and comfort without harming nature.
The impact of CarryMeHome is not only evident in the ecological relief, but also in the social change. By promoting sustainable transport alternatives, it raises awareness of environmentally conscious action and triggers a change in mobility behavior. The project also creates new jobs and supports local communities, which promotes positive social dynamics in the region.
In the future, CarryMeHome plans to further expand its reach and work with partners from politics, business and research to establish sustainable mobility concepts throughout Germany. In the long term, the project should make an important contribution to making cities more liveable and ecologically sustainable. In this way, CarryMeHome is an example of innovation and social responsibility in terms of sustainable development.
